Wanted Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has accepted arrest as he turns himself over to the Nigerian police. The police had mounted a siege during the past few days in the Maitama residence of the Kogi West Senator.
The controversial lawmaker was wanted by the police over a murder case linked to him. For days Mr Melaye resisted arrest as he was holing up in his house. At long last, he has moved to the Police headquarters to meet with IG Ibrahim Idris.
According to a source, Dino was visited by fellow colleagues Senators Boma Goodhead, Atai Aidoko-Ali and his lawyer Mike Ozekhome. It is not clear if the company who visited him convinced him to turn himself in.
Shortly after Mr Melaye went to the police headquarters in company of his colleagues and his lawyers to meet with the IGP who was unavailable at his arrival. He then moved immediately to Special Anti-Robbery Squad office, Guzape, Abuja, were he has been interrogated.
“Over 50 policemen had stormed Melaye’s mansion last week Friday in an attempt to arrest him for interrogation over the alleged shooting of one Sgt. Aliyu.”
